Stop Waiting for Permission

Introduction

At some point, every woman finds herself standing at a crossroads.

Not because she doesn't know what to do.

But because she knows exactly what she wants to do and is waiting for permission to do it.

Permission to start the business.

Permission to set the boundary.

Permission to write the book.

Permission to charge what she's worth.

Permission to leave what no longer aligns.

Permission to pursue the vision that won't leave her alone.

And while she's waiting, life keeps moving.

Opportunities come and go.

Doors open and close.

Years pass.

And the dream remains where it started—in her heart.

But what if permission was never the issue?

What if the real question is:

Who are you waiting for?

The Permission Trap

Many of us have spent years looking outside ourselves for validation.

We want confirmation.

We want support.

We want certainty.

We want someone to tell us we're making the right decision.

And while wise counsel is important, there comes a point when seeking confirmation becomes a disguise for fear.

We tell ourselves:

  • "I'm still researching."

  • "I'm waiting for the right time."

  • "I need one more sign."

  • "I just want to be sure."

But often, we're not waiting for clarity.

We're waiting for certainty.

And certainty rarely comes before obedience.

What If You Already Know?

One of the hardest truths I've had to accept is that sometimes we already know.

We know the relationship has run its course.

We know we're exhausted.

We know the opportunity is there.

We know the next step.

We know what God has been whispering.

The struggle isn't hearing Him.

The struggle is trusting what we've already heard.

Sometimes we keep asking God for another answer when He's waiting for us to respond to the one He already gave.

Fear Doesn't Always Look Like Fear

Most people imagine fear as panic, anxiety, or avoidance.

But fear can be much more subtle.

Sometimes fear looks like:

  • Overthinking

  • Over-preparing

  • Perfectionism

  • Constantly seeking advice

  • Waiting for ideal conditions

  • Comparing yourself to others

Fear doesn't always stop us.

Sometimes it keeps us busy.

Busy enough to avoid moving forward.

Busy enough to avoid failing.

Busy enough to avoid succeeding.

The Cost of Waiting

Every decision has a cost.

Acting has a cost.

But waiting does too.

When we continuously delay what we're called to do, we pay with:

  • Lost opportunities

  • Lost confidence

  • Lost momentum

  • Lost time

The longer we wait, the easier it becomes to believe the story that we're not ready.

But readiness isn't what creates action.

Action creates readiness.

God Doesn't Need Your Perfection

One thing I've learned through every season of growth is this:

God has never asked me to be perfect.

He's asked me to be willing.

Willing to trust Him.

Willing to move.

Willing to release what no longer serves me.

Willing to step forward before I have every answer.

Too often, we wait until we feel qualified.

But throughout scripture, God consistently used people who felt unqualified.

Moses felt inadequate.

Esther felt uncertain.

Jeremiah felt too young.

Yet God still called them.

And He still calls us.

The Woman You're Becoming

The woman you're becoming cannot continue asking permission from people who have never carried your assignment.

She cannot continue shrinking to fit places she has outgrown.

She cannot continue doubting what God has already confirmed.

Growth requires movement.

Purpose requires participation.

And your future requires a version of you that is willing to move forward before everything feels comfortable.

A Reflection for July

As you move through this month, I want you to sit with these questions:

  • What am I waiting to start?

  • What decision have I already made in my heart but haven't acted on?

  • What would I do if I stopped asking for permission?

  • What is fear costing me?

  • Where is God asking me to trust Him?

Write your answers down.

Be honest.

Then ask yourself one final question:

What is one thing I can do this week to move forward?

Not next month.

Not next year.

This week.

Conclusion

The life you're praying for may require a version of you that's willing to move before everything makes sense.

The opportunity you're waiting for may already be in front of you.

The confirmation you're seeking may have already been given.

At some point, you have to stop waiting for permission and start walking in purpose.

Because the woman God created you to be isn't waiting for someone to choose her.

She's waiting for you to believe what God already said.

And perhaps the next chapter of your life begins the moment you stop asking who will allow it... and start asking what God has already assigned.

July Challenge

This month, identify one area where you've been waiting for permission.

Then give yourself what you've been waiting for.

Not because you're fearless.

But because you're faithful.

Your Past. Your Power. Now move.
